About Joshua

Before returning to teaching, I spent years working as Wellbeing Programme Manager at the University of Nottingham, supporting thousands of students, many from international backgrounds, with communication, confidence and personal development. That role shaped how I teach now: patient, encouraging, and genuinely interested in helping someone grow rather than just correcting mistakes.

Outside of teaching, I'm a qualified breathwork and meditation teacher, and I love travel, sport, music, culture and food. I also play the piano. I've lived and worked in several different countries, so I understand first-hand what it's like learning to communicate in a new language and culture, and I try to bring that patience and perspective into every lesson.

I teach general and conversational English to adults and young learners, with a relaxed, real-conversation approach that keeps things practical and enjoyable rather than textbook-heavy. Get in touch and let's have a chat about what you're working towards.

About the lesson

Hi, I'm Josh!

I'm a native English speaker with over four years of teaching experience gained across international classrooms in Bali, Thailand and Poland, alongside a recognised online teaching qualification.

I teach general and conversational English to adults and young learners, helping build confidence, fluency and clarity whether you're preparing for work, travel, exams or everyday life. I also have experience supporting professional and business English development, drawing on several years working directly with students and professionals at the University of Nottingham and Derby College.

My lessons are relaxed, structured and tailored to you. I focus on real conversation and practical progress rather than rigid textbook drilling, and I'm patient, encouraging and genuinely invested in seeing you improve. I can work with complete beginners through to advanced learners looking to refine fluency.
