About Rick
Aside from tutoring, I can ensure a professional and motivating atmosphere as a mature individual. First, it's always important to know and understand each other. With that said, all first meetings will be in a space-friendly atmosphere, like a Starbucks or a local library. The location can change if we're both agreeable.
Additionally, I graduated with honors, Summa cum Laude as an English Major. I have my unofficial transcripts and a copy of my undergraduate degree ready for inspection upon meeting. I'm also currently in a graduate program with a GPA of 4.0. With three classes left, I'll graduate in June 2023 with a graduate degree in English with an emphasis on Creative Writing.
Finally, before the car accident, I owned and operated a multinational company with corporate offices in Mexico, El Salvador, and Panama (operating sixteen manufacturing plants with over 600 hundred employees). I also held offices in the US, but I think it's important that although I don't speak Spanish daily anymore, I'm comfortable and fluent. I also understand the problems of language diversification and how to learn new languages.

My tutoring method involves a patient, clear-headed approach that includes logic, understanding, a smile, and an occasional pat on the back. It also consists of straightforward and manageable strategies.
The typical plan builds around lessons that include the following:
• Assignment read aloud.
• Overview and brainstorm.
• Investigate main ideas.
• Build thesis.
• Build transition.
• Build topic sentences.
• Build a conclusion.
• Write examples in each area.
• First draft revision, brainstorming difficulties, and review.
• Second draft revision, brainstorming lessor difficulties, and correction.
• Last draft and review for any typos and minor errors.
• Finalize the paper according to MLA or APA requirements that range from middle to graduate school.
What sets me apart? I teach your children like I learned to teach my own. After a severe auto accident and ongoing surgeries, my surgeon kept me in the house for nearly four years. That's when I decided to make the best of my time and share my love of literature and writing with my children. After our prolonged time together (including COVID), my children went on to attend or enter college at fourteen and twelve. My daughter entered college full-time at twelve years of age. Of course, not everyone wants to advance their children this way. In fact, I had doubts about my daughter's advancement due to socialization, yet every child has unique talents and maturity levels. Still, this is where I found the joy of teaching.
Moreover, the lessons I provide help those struggling with organization, understanding, or writing skills. After all, we all struggle at times, regardless of who we are. My tutoring style sheds light on problem areas and regulates those problems to manageable and straightforward strategies that work for individual students with different needs. I aim to teach students to write strong papers with the know-how that provides confidence now and in their academic future.
Finally, I teach across all grade levels, from late elementary (it's never too early to start) to graduate-level essays and projects.
Thanks for your time!
