Hi students (and parents)!

My name is Rachel, and I am a final year international student from Hong Kong currently pursuing a dual degree in law and digital media. My goal is to become a solicitor in Australia next year.

I have always had a passion for teaching and believe that learning something new can open doors to greater opportunities in life. My own experience of being taught by exceptional teachers in high school has shaped my appreciation for educators who make learning engaging and memorable. They have truly inspired me and guided me towards my chosen career path.

After graduating from high school, I began tutoring children aged 3-12 in Hong Kong as a part-time job. I found great joy in teaching and, more importantly, in helping them discover that learning can be both fun and enjoyable, especially with the right encouragement and incentives.

Briefly after I left Hong Kong to begin my studies in Australia, I joined an online tutoring volunteer program where I had the opportunity to tutor over 20 adults who were preparing to leave Hong Kong. Their words of admiration and encouragement motivated me to continue tutoring, with the hope that my guidance and insights could be of assistance to others on their learning journey.

I am excited to continue sharing my passion for learning and teaching, and I look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of my future students.

About the lesson

My experience relating to language and teaching:
- 2 years of experience in private tutoring students from 3-12 years old in Hong Kong;
- Tutor volunteering for adults in English (pronunciation & writing) to prepare them for their immigration journeys to other countries;
- 2 years + experience as a part-time paralegal at an Asian law firm in Brisbane, Australia. Effectively communicating with clients in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Teaching styles:
My teaching style varies and largely depends on each student's needs and learning habits. I would try to understand what the student needs the most (pronunciation/writing/listening etc) and create the best suited materials for the student.

My HKDSE results in English are 5 5* 4 5**.

Teaching hours and location:
- I am currently open to 20 hours of teaching every week.
- Open for after business hours tutoring and weekend morning tutoring.

Happy to go through materials through Zoom or in person if you are located in Brisbane inner city areas.
