About Vuslat

I grew up learning English in primary school, so I have a lot of experience with the language and the culture. I attended an international school in Saudi Arabia, where I communicated in English with all of my friends and teachers. Later, I did my bachelor's programme in the Netherlands and partly in the UK. I have always been interested in teaching, as both of my parents are English teachers. I guess you could say it runs in the blood!

I hope that we can embark on this English teaching and learning journey together!

About the lesson

My lessons are for anyone and everyone who is interested in learning English. You can be a complete beginner, or someone who already knows English. I would design my lessons in a way that I think would be most beneficial for my students. If they would like to focus on their reading skills, then I would prepare a receptive skills lesson, with a particular focus on reading. If they would like to learn all four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing, then I would dedicate each lesson to a particular skill, using extension activities to incorporate one of the other four skills. At university, I took a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) course, so I am familiar with lesson planning and teaching.

I, myself, am very interested in learning languages. I learned French in middle school and high school, and I am currently learning Dutch. For this reason, and because I took university courses that taught us how people acquire languages, I know what works in language teaching, and what generally doesn't. One thing I would encourage my students to do is expose themselves to the English language as much as possible; this can be done through books, videos, movies, tv shows or songs, for example.
