About William

I am a retired Graphic Designer/Fine Art Artist, and teaching people to "see" their own unique reality, is my reward. First the basics, (Drawing), this is the foundation of all the Visual Arts, understanding how to draw, understanding negative and positive space, understanding volume, looking at mark making, looking at light, loosening-up, how to hold a pencil. You're not a machine, I don't teach craft. I would like to share my knowledge on how poetry and feeling have their voice in your work, and to try and discover the "real" you, the first classes may seem odd, but these will be preparations, for building a solid foundation, because as I mentioned before, DRAWING is the FOUNDATION, after you grasp the BASICS of "looking", painting, sculpture, conceptual, and all related visual creative forms will become yours to play with. Remember "there is no Art", this is just a label, there is only EXPRESSION, but to be able to express yourself, one needs a solid foundation, and "Drawing" is this priority. After my strict DRAWING approach, colour, wow, COLOUR, painting, collage, abstraction. My apparent feel for colour is one of my strong points, having achieved Distinctions at University for painting, but, hey!, it all depends at what level, you're at, and once I see your work, we can take it from there, but be warned, you may have to go back to begin, remember EXPRESS, don't IMPRESS, I hope to see you soon William LOUCKX

About the lesson

My method is not having a method, establishing a foundation, preparing you to allow your unique self to emerge, this is not as easy as you may think, we all have notions of what we want to say, but how to bring this out visually?, creativity can't be taught, but having a someone guide you in this direction, is like learning to walk, I can teach anyone to draw, yes anyone, but then what?, this is my goal, to seek areas that may develop an expression that is you, whether it's in painting, or conceptually, or through performance, but the BASICS is my corner stone. (1) DRAWING, (2) DRAWING, (3) DRAWING, yes, be scared, because without this BASIC FOUNDATION, visual expression may lack a deeper undertanding, so I take no prisoners, because I want to help, and I know how fantastic these discoveries are, and how they will be your toolbox for ever, as you develop, PS!, there is no good "Art", it's a process, and some work is more felt than other.
