Several things influence the final cost:

• Your current proficiency (A1 to C2 on the CEFR scale)
• The tutor's qualifications and experience (TESOL or CELTA training, native speaker status)
• The length and frequency of sessions (weekly one-hour classes, intensive daily blocks)
• The lesson format (video call, face-to-face, or hybrid)

Some teachers give a free trial lesson so you can test the fit before committing.

The CEFR scale A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2 is the standard for measuring ESL progress.

• A1 (Beginner): You handle survival English: ordering coffee, giving your address, reading simple signs.
• A2 (Elementary): You manage everyday tasks: shopping, booking appointments, asking for directions.
• B1 (Intermediate): You read straightforward articles and write coherent paragraphs.
• B2  (Upper-Intermediate): You handle professional emails, presentations, and academic reading.
• C1 (Advanced): You express yourself spontaneously with few pauses for vocabulary searches.
• C2 (Proficient): You use English with the precision and flexibility of an educated native speaker.

Personalized tutoring ensures steady progress through each CEFR stage at your own pace.

Top-rated teachers are known for flexibility, encouragement, and practical conversation practice.

Listening, speaking, reading, and writing form the foundation of every ESL program.

• Listening: decoding accents, intonation, and connected speech in real-time. Listening is often called the first gateway to fluency.
• Speaking: expressing ideas, asking questions, and holding conversations with native speakers. Regular conversation practice turns passive knowledge into active output.
• Reading: decoding vocabulary, grammar, and meaning across different genres. This skill supports all others by feeding your brain rich, varied English.
• Writing: producing emails, essays, or social media posts with clarity and correctness. Feedback from a tutor helps you spot patterns in your errors.

A private ESL tutor balances all four skills based on your goals, whether you need English for work, study, or daily life.
