About Jamie
Hello! I am a specialist tutor with 4 years of experience working full time supporting children in both mainstream and specialist educational settings. As a young educator, I take pride in building positive relationships with children by creating a relaxed, supportive learning environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves.
I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Dyslexia and Literacy and currently work at Emerson House, a specialist school that specialises in teaching children with learning difficulties. I provide daily one-to-one support for pupils with a range of learning needs, including dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties.
I specialise in Mathematics, English and literacy, helping pupils build confidence, develop key skills and achieve their academic goals. I bring plenty of energy, enthusiasm and humour to my lessons, which helps keep pupils engaged and motivated to learn.
My approach is patient, encouraging and tailored to each individual child. Whether a pupil needs help catching up, preparing for exams, improving confidence or overcoming learning barriers, I aim to make lessons enjoyable while delivering meaningful progress. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a child realise what they are capable of and begin to believe in their own abilities.

I begin by assessing each pupil to identify their strengths, areas for development, and individual learning needs. This allows me to create a personalised learning plan and tailor lessons to target specific areas requiring support.
I provide specialist tuition in Maths, English and Literacy, delivering engaging, structured and confidence-building lessons that help pupils make meaningful progress. Sessions may focus on reading, spelling, writing, comprehension, maths, study skills, organisation and exam preparation, depending on the child's needs.
Drawing on evidence-based teaching strategies and my experience supporting children with a range of learning differences, I adapt every lesson to suit the pupil's age, ability and learning style. My aim is not only to improve academic skills, but also to develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
