I make sure students have the resources they need to understand topics which are new or confusing to them. I like to teach using sketches and verbally rather than showing them mark schemes. I have gotten great feedback and students I have taught in the past gained A*s in their subjects.
I am a post A level student, I have been tutoring students from grammar school entrance exams up to GCSE level. I gained top marks in my Grammar School exam and can understand Verbal and non verbal reasoning to a high level. I have completed Maths, chemistry and Biology a levels gaining AAB.
I will change rates according to the level of the student, whether it be younger years or different exam boards.
I am currently on a Gap year before I go to university to study Chemical Engineering at Nottingham. I have finished my A levels in Maths, Chemistry and Biology (AAB respectively) and I am now saving up money to fund my university accommodation and expenditures. Some of my previous Jobs include:
Assistant Tutor at a Year 4 and 5 tutoring centre (Education Options in Barnfield West High School). Role involved me working with groups of children, talking to parents and teaching students in many ways depending on different learning abilities of the students.
Personal tutor to GCSE Maths and Science Students in which students 1 to 1 and help them in the sciences. This involved me learning the curriculum and understanding it enough to teach it to a student to prepare for their exams. This often involved me being organized and releasing certain topics which a student would want to go over.
I have been playing on my School football and Rugby teams for 4 years now and I have had monitoring roles taking care of students and organising events for them such as end of year assemblies and balls. I have also taken courses in Emergency Resuscitation and have taken part in an initiative teaching the rest of my cohort basic CPR skills. This involved me managing a team of students, talking to teachers nurses and other staff to organise rooms, take students out of lessons and improve my skills on teaching. I have very good communication skills and I work effectively in a team as I have shown in my activities above.
I am fluent with all Microsoft apps and google programs such as excel word PowerPoint etc. and have taken GCSE Computer science which allowed me to learn programming and learn with many office style programs. I can learn quickly to work effectively with any online tool given.
I have lots of experience in terms of how to deal with a wide range of people, for example I have volunteered in a care home near me for roughly 18 months. Every Saturday I go and hand out refreshments as well as have a chat with them to see how they are doing. I also have had work experiences at hospitals and gp centres where I see how healthcare professionals handle patients who are angry or distressed. I feel like this was a learning curve and I try my best to replicate that mindset in my day to day work.
I am quite sporty and I like to keep fit, I feel that this helps me to remain healthy physically and mentally. I am sociable and approachable and am always willing to help my workmates when they ask for it or need it. I can do my work independently to a high standard as well as maintain a positive working attitude. I am able to work all days of the week as well.
