Through experience in the classroom and through my own studies I have found that enthusiasm is the key to academic success - I believe that encouraging a student to find passion in a subject is the best and most rewarding form of learning!
I have several years of experience working in an education environment, with ages ranging from 2 to 18 years of age.
Whilst I have been studying for my degrees I have worked in schools as a cover teacher, and have been able to encourage enthusiasm in many subjects, especially literature, history, and drama.
Having graduated from the University of Sheffield with a 2:1 degree in English Literature, I am currently completing my Masters in Eighteenth Century Studies. I am hoping to utilise my written and verbal communication skills that have developed throughout my work experience and degrees.

September 2016 – Present Randstad Education
Through employment with Randstad I have been able to gain valuable experience in a wide variety of education-based environments. Over the past two years I have proved myself capable of working in nurseries with children ranging from eight months to four years; secondary schools in capacities of cover supervisor, SEN teaching assistant, and exam invigilator; and as an administrative assistant.
March 2013 – July 2013 Aylesbury Grammar School
My role was to enable students to remain in a stable classroom environment if a teacher wasn’t present and to ensure their continued learning, as well as aiding staff in administrative duties. I was also lucky enough to act as a student mentor and lead the school’s debating society.
I thoroughly enjoy working with and campaigning for the SEN community. Not only have I worked as an SEN Teaching Assistant at High Storrs School, I have held numerous volunteer placements at Furzedown School and Harding House (Buckinghamshire), and have worked on campaigns within my Students’ Union.
Through studying for my Masters I have been able to expand my knowledge of an area that thoroughly interests me. My research into the literature of English Civil War and Restoration period has been thoroughly enjoyable and I hope to be able to share my interest in such works in a classroom setting.
I have also been able to indulge in reading outside of my degrees whilst at university, and in particular have an interest in Early Modern English, Welsh, and Scottish history. Again, I hope to be able to share such an enthusiasm with students.
