About Matthew

Hello! My name is Matthew, and I am currently studying Actuarial Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where Mathematics forms the foundation of my degree.

I achieved 4A*s in A-Level in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, and I have recently completed these examinations myself. This means I understand both the content and the exam techniques needed to excel, allowing me to explain challenging concepts in a clear and approachable way.

I believe that every student has the potential to succeed with the right guidance. My teaching style focuses on building a strong understanding of core concepts before progressing to more challenging problems. I also place emphasis on exam strategies, common pitfalls, and developing confidence so that students can perform at their best under exam conditions.

I am patient, approachable, and committed to creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. Whether you are looking to strengthen your fundamentals, improve your grades, or prepare for IGCSE, O-Level, Additional Mathematics, or A-Level examinations, I will tailor lessons to suit your individual goals and learning style.

About the lesson

I offer personalised online Mathematics lessons for students studying Secondary Mathematics, IGCSE/O-Level Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, and A-Level Mathematics.

As a current Actuarial Science undergraduate at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), I use Mathematics extensively in my studies and understand the importance of building strong problem-solving skills rather than simply memorising formulas. Having completed these examinations myself, I am familiar with the challenges students face and the techniques needed to succeed.

My teaching approach is tailored to each student's needs. At the beginning of our lessons, I identify areas that require improvement before explaining concepts step by step using clear examples. I then guide students through practice questions, helping them develop confidence, accuracy, and effective exam techniques. I encourage students to ask questions throughout the lesson so that they gain a genuine understanding of the material.

Lessons are typically 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student's level and preferences, and are conducted online.
