About Kai Ni

My name is Kai Ni, a Malaysian graduate from Beijing Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's degree in Artificial Intelligence. Having lived and studied in China for four years, I am a native Mandarin speaker with full fluency in both English and Mandarin.

Although my degree is in AI, language has always been my passion. During my time in China, I frequently helped fellow international students improve their Mandarin through informal peer tutoring — guiding them with pronunciation, daily conversations, and academic writing. These experiences taught me patience and the importance of making language learning feel natural and stress-free.

As a fresh graduate, I bring a young, energetic, and relatable approach to teaching. I understand the challenges of learning a new language firsthand, and my lessons focus on practical usage and cultural insights rather than rigid memorization. My engineering background also makes me organized and detail-oriented — skills that help me structure lessons effectively and track each student's progress.

My lessons are suitable for all ages and levels — from primary school children and secondary students to working adults and retirees. I am flexible, patient, and committed to helping each student achieve their personal language goals at their own pace.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is student-centered and interactive. I believe that language learning should be practical and enjoyable, not just memorizing textbooks. For beginners, I start with pinyin and tonal pronunciation, then gradually introduce everyday vocabulary through real-life scenarios like ordering food, shopping, or introducing oneself. For intermediate and advanced students, I incorporate short articles, dialogues, and even songs or drama clips to make learning more engaging. I also emphasize writing skills, from basic stroke order to constructing simple sentences and paragraphs.

Each lesson typically lasts 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the student's age and attention span. For younger children, I keep sessions shorter with more games and visual aids; for teenagers and adults, I prefer longer sessions with deeper discussions.

Although I am a fresh graduate, I am a native Mandarin speaker with a strong command of the language. I have experience volunteering as a peer tutor during my university days, helping classmates improve their spoken Mandarin. I am also patient, approachable, and passionate about sharing my language and culture.

My lessons are suitable for all age groups and levels — from primary school children and secondary students needing extra support, to working adults and retirees who wish to learn Mandarin for travel, work, or personal interest. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to polish your fluency, I will tailor each session to your individual goals and pace.
