About Abby

I’ve always been passionate about the ocean and marine life, which inspired me to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology and a Master’s degree in Environmental Protection. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to build a career doing what I love.

I’ve worked on research and field boats, at Sea World, with environmental non-profit organizations, consultants, and I now work as a Coastal Management Officer for local government. These experiences have allowed me to apply marine science in the real world and have strengthened my passion for protecting our oceans and coastlines.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me surfing on the Gold Coast, diving, hiking, or exploring new places. My favorite animal is the whale shark—I think they’re incredible! I love sharing fun facts and real-world experiences that bring marine biology to life.

I want to teach because I know how much of a difference an encouraging tutor can make. My goal is to make learning enjoyable, relatable, and tailored to each student’s needs. Whether you’re preparing for an exam, working through an assignment, or simply fascinated by the ocean, I’d love to help you build confidence and discover just how amazing science can be.

About the lesson

Hi! I’m Abby, and if you’re passionate about the ocean, marine life, or environmental science, you’ve come to the right place!

Marine biology has always been my passion. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology, a Master’s degree in Environmental Protection, and I currently work as a Coastal Management Technical Officer with the City of Gold Coast, where I help protect and manage some of Australia’s most iconic beaches and coastlines.

I believe learning should be enjoyable, not intimidating. My lessons are relaxed, interactive, and tailored to your learning style. Whether you’re preparing for an exam, working through an assignment, or simply curious about the incredible world beneath the ocean’s surface, I’ll help you understand concepts in a way that actually makes sense.

I love sharing real-life examples from my career to bring marine biology to life—from marine ecosystems and coastal processes to conservation, wildlife, and how science is used to solve real environmental challenges.

I’m patient, approachable, and always happy to answer questions (there really are no silly ones!). My goal is for every student to leave feeling more confident, inspired, and excited to learn!
