About Alexis S King

As a master teacher and a natural learner I have built good relationships with my students and families through my warm and inviting presence, passion and high expectations for the learning environment. I encourage community and collaboration through positive praise, shout outs, and opportunities for community building. I value our students' opinions, feelings and learning style. This passion for our students as a whole helps me to create a safe, joyful, learning and collaborative space. I have mastery in teaching elementary reading/literacy, writing, math and science. I have mastery in teaching middle school science, reading, creative writing and 5-6th grade math.

About the lesson

I believe learning is meant to be an experience. I engage students through their senses. I value learning as an outlet of expression logically, critically, creatively and collaboratively. I learn best when I am writing, reading, listening, speaking and using my talents and passions. I encourage those around me to value those skills too.

-I value consistent systems and routines to maximize learning time.
-Student goals are clear, named and attainable.
-I provide students with constructive feedback which initiates the growth mindset in them.
-I encourage students to advocate their needs, challenges or emotional disturbances.
-I teach character development through rigor, overcoming challenges, self-confidence, community building and leadership opportunities tailored to each student.
