About Leonard

With a background in Fine Art from the Glasgow School of Art and extensive experience in Education, I bring a creative and structured approach to teaching Chinese. My years of experience in Chinese language education, both in Mandarin and Cantonese, allow me to craft lessons that are engaging, culturally enriching, and tailored to each student's needs. By combining my artistic practice with proven teaching techniques, I ensure that students learn the language and appreciate the cultural nuances that come with it. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced learner, my lessons offer a comprehensive and personalised learning journey.

About the lesson

In my Chinese language tutoring, I focus on immersive and interactive techniques to help students master Mandarin and Cantonese. I combine conversation practice, cultural insights, and structured grammar exercises to make language learning engaging and practical. With an artistic licence and years of experience in China, I have worked with students of all ages and levels—from young beginners to adult learners aiming for fluency. Perfect! Leonard is a spectacular tutor, he is patient and encouraging, knowing when is best to assist you or let you try something on your own. He creates content which carefully and thoroughly explains each topic, with useful relevant examples. He understands that learning a new language, especially one such as Mandarin from an English native tongue can be very challenging, but doesn’t allow that to dishearten students, ensuring that with correct form and practice, it will become much more achievable. I definitely would recommend Leonard!

Annie is an excellent student, especially with her good attitude and willingness to try the sounds out loud, which is absolutely the most important part at this stage.
