About Jacek

I am a maths teacher with 10 years of very diverse teaching experience in Scotland, England, New Zealand and Spain; in very traditional and very modern schools, mainstream and private. I hold 3 degrees at master’s level; my teaching qualification, PGDE, is from the University of Edinburgh.
I have taught low and high ability students and I have been successful in helping learners at all levels. In England I taught intensive revision courses to help students prepare for their exams; IGCSE, Statistics and Mechanics. In Scotland I taught to all levels in mainstream and private schools. In New Zealand I taught the NZ and Cambridge curriculum, mainly to senior classes (including calculus and statistics), moreover, I assisted with the calculus scholarship. In Spain I taught maths in a private British school, from KS3 up to A level.
I also taught English as a foreign language in a private language school. I have been giving tutorials for both: maths and English, in person and online.
Before being a maths teacher, I worked as a civil engineer in Edinburgh, for 5 years. I have a Master of Engineering degree from Poland and a Master of Science with distinction from De Montfort University, UK.

About the lesson

I can teach anything to do with high school mathematics in any curriculum, mainly Cambridge (A levels, IGCSE, GCSE etc. for any exam board) but also other systems. I value students' understanding the most but I am also happy to prepare them for their exams.
When my student is struggling, I try my best to find what the issue is: a gap in learning, misunderstanding the topic or the problem, not knowing what is required for an exam question etc. I can work with the student according to their needs and goals; this could be either to get to know the subject well and apply this correctly in their studies or this could be simply to prepare for exams and pass with a good grade. With my background of teaching in so many different countries and with very diverse students I believe I am able to develop good and friendly relationships quickly. At the same time I have high expectations, of course giving all the support that the learner needs.
For online classes I use Skype and a shared Google document; this means both me and the student can work on the same document during the lesson and this is kept as the record for the student to use it later for revision.
