About Jocelyn

I’m a Math tutor with over 8 years of experience and a Bachelor of Mathematics (BMath). My focus is helping students who are exploring discrete mathematics, especially those aiming to strengthen their skills for competitive programming and algorithm design. I’ve worked with learners from high school to university level who are passionate about coding, logic, and problem-solving. My sessions often dive into topics like combinatorics, graph theory, recurrence relations, and algorithmic complexity. About the lesson

My teaching approach in mathematics is structured and progressive, focusing on building each concept step by step. I believe strong foundations lead to long-term success, especially in core areas like algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics. Each session is carefully planned to help students understand not just how to solve problems, but why the methods work.

I specialize in topics such as algebraic reasoning, differentiation and integration in calculus, formal geometry proofs, and real-world applications of probability and statistics. I make sure students grasp the logic behind the formulas and techniques, which gives them the tools to tackle unfamiliar problems with confidence. Visual aids, examples, and guided practice are key parts of my teaching.

I work particularly well with Future Actuaries and Problem Solvers—students who enjoy analysis and precision. I provide tailored guidance to match each learner’s pace and style. Every lesson is part of a clear path forward, building toward academic goals or career preparation. My aim is always to support deeper understanding and independent thinking.
