About Sandy
I am currently a Chemistry major at McGill University and an IB graduate. In high school, I received awards in various math and science contests, including CIMC, Pascal, Cayley, and Galois, and was awarded the Elemental Tile Prize for Avogadro twice. I completed IB Math HL and earned a 7 in both IB Chemistry HL and IB Physics SL.
At McGill, I serve as a mentor and tutor for introductory physics and organic chemistry courses in which I previously performed strongly. I lead classroom tutorials where I answer students’ questions and help them work through weekly assignments. I also provide one-on-one tutoring sessions, scheduling time with students to review for exams and clarify challenging concepts.

My tutoring is aimed at elementary to high school students in math and science, as well as university students in general chemistry and introductory organic chemistry.
My teaching approach focuses on building strong conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. When students are stuck, I guide them with small hints that point them in the right direction — for example, helping them recognize how a question resembles one they have seen before, discussing which formula applies and why, and encouraging them to reason through each step. I often refer students to course materials or professors’ notes so they can learn how to use reliable academic resources independently.
A typical lesson includes reviewing key concepts, breaking down difficult problems step by step, and practicing similar questions to build confidence.

Perfect! Sandy is an exceptional teacher who took the time to thoroughly assess my daughter’s current mathematics level, curriculum, and overall learning needs. She provided a clear and well-structured roadmap, outlining how Cayley can be pursued not only through her schoolwork but also for other competitive mathematics programs. Her attention to detail and ability to personalize the learning plan stood out immediately.
What impressed me most was her methodical approach—she didn’t rush into teaching but instead built a strong understanding of where my daughter stands and where she can go. Sandy’s guidance brings clarity and direction, which is incredibly valuable when navigating multiple math enrichment opportunities.
Overall, her professionalism, depth of knowledge, and commitment to student growth make her a highly recommended educator for anyone looking to build both foundational skills and competitive excellence in mathematicsView more reviews

Sandy is truly exceptional. While many people understand university-level mathematics, it’s rare to find someone who can explain it this clearly. When taking calculus 3 together, she helped me work through complex topics like multivariable calculus and series convergence, breaking them down into concepts that actually make sense. What sets her apart is that she doesn’t just show you how to solve problems, she teaches you the logic, so you can approach new problems with confidence. She is incredibly organized, patient, and reliable.
Sandy is an excellent tutor. Not only does she have strong academic knowledge, but more importantly, she can quickly understand a student’s current level and where they are struggling. As a result, her explanations are highly targeted, helping students grasp concepts more efficiently.
