About Ivan
I am a professional mechanical engineer working in the Biotech space. I graduated high-school with full honors and took 9 AP's (AP Calc AB, BC, Chemistry, Physics B/C, Macro, APUSH, AP Lit,Macro/Micro). I graduated from USC in mechanical engineering. I can competently tutor any highschool STEM subject and most 200 lower level engineering/Science college courses. I come from a family of teachers so education is in my blood.
My main hobby is personal finance (I can also tutor that). I am primarily looking to make side income through tutoring students mostly as a tax benefit and to gain experience in eventually becoming a teacher.
My hope is to maintain only 2-3 students where I can really dedicate my focus and attention to them and if parents are open to it, teach beyond just the direct lessons and offer advise on thinking about highschool, college, life after college, goals, dreams.

My teaching method is explanation through examples, most STEM subjects are so abstract, they require multiple different examples to understand the fundamental concept. I am also a huge advocate of making my student teach me the concept to confirm their mastery of a subject. Lastly, as in the real world, I believe the ability to google the problem is probably just as important as solving it yourself because in my courses at school, I had full access to the internet on most tests and I still struggled. At work I don't know what the force a 32 gauge needle that is 2 in. long requires in order to break through human skin, but I can figure it out.
