About Cameron

Hi! My name is Cameron Collins, and I’m a Mechanical Engineering student at Texas State University. I’ve had a love for math for as long as I can remember, it’s always been a subject that excites me and challenges me in the best way. I performed well throughout middle and high school, finishing in the top half of my class, and I especially enjoyed taking advanced courses like AP Calculus. I was also a member of the Math Honor Society, which helped solidify my passion for the subject. Beyond academics, I consider myself a bit of a well-rounded nerd, in the best way! I’ve played violin since middle school and currently perform in an orchestra at Texas State. I also played softball for many years and spent five years involved in theater. In my free time, I love stargazing and exploring astronomy with my telescope! As a tutor, I bring patience, understanding, and genuine enthusiasm to every session. I know what it’s like to feel stuck on a topic, and I enjoy helping students push through those challenges and build confidence in their math abilities. Whether you're preparing for a test or just trying to make sense of a confusing concept, I'm here to help!

About the lesson

I absolutely love teaching math! Since starting college as an engineering major, I've developed a deep passion for learning and explaining math concepts, especially algebra and calculus. I want to pass that enthusiasm on to students who might be struggling or just need a little extra support.
I take an open, patient, and encouraging approach when working with students. I focus on building a strong foundation, especially if someone is confused by the basics. My sessions are flexible and tailored to each student’s needs, whether that means walking through a tricky homework problem or breaking down big-picture concepts in simple, step-by-step ways.

A typical lesson might include:
-Reviewing class material or preparing for an upcoming test
-Working through homework problems together
-Clarifying confusing topics by going back to the fundamentals
-Using visual examples or real-world applications when possible.My goal is to make sure each student not only understands the "how" but also the "why" behind the math.

Because I’m currently in college, concepts like algebra, geometry, pre-calc, and calculus are fresh in my mind—and I know how they’re currently being taught. I’ve recently been in the same classrooms, so I understand the challenges students face and how to explain things in a way that really connects.
My lessons are great for middle school, high school, or early college students, especially those in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Precalculus, and Calculus I. Whether your child is catching up or aiming to get ahead, I can help build both their skills and their confidence.
