About Michelle
Hi, my name is Michelle and I am a first year medical student at the University of Southampton. I was born in Japan and moved to the UK when I was 8 years old. I have 2 younger brothers and from a young age I have helped them with their homework.
For my A Levels I did Biology, Chemistry and Maths. As a person, I am attentive to detail, goal-oriented and patient, which is reflected in my teaching style. I enjoy teaching and have tutored students in A Level chemistry and biology, GCSE science, primary school science, mathematics and English, and medical school interviews.
In my spare time I play tennis with my university team, do yoga, play piano and volunteer at Teddy Bear Hospital, which involves teaching primary school children about health. I volunteered at Kingston Hospital for over a year as a Dementia Helper before starting medical school.
I am bilingual, as aside from English, I can speak Mandarin Chinese fluently.

I tailor lessons towards topics that students find difficult and encourage them to ask questions at any time. I use practice questions early on to help students be active in their learning and deepen their understanding beyond taking notes.
Typical length of a lesson: 1 hour.
I have tutored primary school students in maths and English, and GCSE & A Level students in science. I achieved A*s in A Level chemistry and biology in June 2022. I have also tutored students in preparation for medical school interviews. I have had experience with both in-person and online tutoring (via videocall).
My lessons are for GCSE and A Level students studying chemistry and/or biology.
