About Sara
A three-legged stool, Sally Naylor: teacher, writer & therapist, generates student enthusiasm. At the Baylor School her sixty students routinely generated 70+ awards and publications annually. She employs linear checklists & rubrics as well as right-brain, open-ended processes like free writes. She encourages risk as she works to reduce student anxiety. Her models work for both creative and expository compositions. Literary analysis and reading comprehension skill-building are also key. Oral readings of original compositions develop public speaking poise and create community. She has written curricula for gifted, English, creative writing, history and mental health classes. Naylor has also published three books of poetry, a memoir, textbook and a chapbook.
I've taught thousands of students in 30+ years in private & public schools, 70% publication rate, emphasis on writing & reading comprehension. What I really teach are verbal thinking skills.
