About Keshia
Hi! My name is Keshia, I am a Librarian for an Elementary/Middle school, and I have 2 Bachelor's in English, one in Creative Writing and the other in Literature. I speak, read, and write Japanese, some Korean, and a little Chinese. I have been tutoring for a little over two years (mostly in Japanese, but also in English). I currently do intervention reading with the students at my school and I have found that my teaching style works really well with all types of learners!

Depending on the subject matter, I curate a lesson based on your learning style to support your learning goals and work towards fulfilling those very same goals. For younger grades, I generally start the lesson with a phonics reminder, we go over patterns, and then from there, we read a book. (I will go through the book with the student going over parts that should grab their attention) and then the student reads aloud, and I monitor the reading being open if there is support needed. Then we go over the book together, looking at what new words they have read and new information they have learned. (this would be for an elementary school-level lesson) For middle school, high school, and college, we would open by talking about the assignment. If it is an analysis of the text or reading, we might read together or look at the text together. If there is a specific way they are required to analyze the work, then we will go over what that analysis is defined as and what ways that overlap in the work.
