About Sara
I hold both a BFA and MFA from San José State University and have taught college-level art and art history courses for over 20 years across the Bay Area. My teaching experience includes drawing, painting, design, sketchbooking, visual culture, creativity studies, and art history from prehistoric through contemporary art. I work with students of all skill levels and believe great teaching combines technical guidance, encouragement, curiosity, and critical thinking. My goal is not only to help students improve their skills, but to help them develop confidence, creative voice, and lasting ways of seeing and understanding the world through art.

I’m a multidisciplinary artist and college professor with over 20 years of teaching experience and 35 years devoted to the practice of art, creativity, and visual storytelling. I specialize in helping students build both technical skill and artistic confidence through supportive, individualized instruction. My background includes drawing, painting, mixed media, sketchbook practice, design foundations, art history, and creative process development. Whether you’re a beginner finding your voice or an advanced student refining your work, I teach with patience, depth, humor, and a strong belief that creativity is something that can be cultivated, not just inherited.
