About Candi

I am an old lady with a BA in Political Science and a BA in Asian Studies with a few foreign languages thrown in. Somewhere along the way, I picked up a Master's in Asian International Affairs from the University of Hawaii, and a Master's in Defense and Strategic Studies from the US Naval War College. I have taught scuba diving for about 20 years and enjoy underwater cave exploration, riding motorcycles on long road trips, and love to do carpentry in my spare time.

About the lesson

Political science, history, and geography may seem a bit dull, but if it's presented in a way that not only makes sense but is engaging, it can be...dare I say...fun! I can take most any aspect of history or geopolitics and break it down so that it is more like a conversation about real people. I focus on the "why" things happened and who did what. It makes material far less "material" and a class that is more like a conversation with a friend. I make it so that you look forward to the time, not just another hour you have to kill in yet another class. Lesson plans are based on the class you are gearing up to pass. (I say "pass", but I want you to CRUSH it...not just pass it!) What are your teachers/professors focusing on in their syllabus and what are they looking for? I want to help you with the class you need help with, not just teach you what I think is important. I adapt to your needs, that's why you are choosing to work with me. If the teaching style isn't one that works for you, I can change it to one that does. I have been working as a tutor in social studies for young kids in elementary school to providing advanced geopolitical analysis for operational planning to PhDs. Not every style works for everyone, and getting you the help you need in the style that works for you is what I'm all about!
