About Scotty

My name is Scott Helman, and I've been making music professionally for 12 years. I've signed to major labels, and had radio hits. I believe in a hands-on approach to music learning. I also believe in risk-taking and bending the rules, all to let the character of the musician come to the front of each song.

About the lesson

Hello! There are an infinite number of ways to make music, which is what the magic is all about :) What is truly important are the basics. No matter what level you are at, I will help deepen your understanding of song structure, recording techniques, mixing/mastering, equipment, plugins, and everything in between. With 12 years in the music industry, and over 100,000,000 streams, I have built my knowledge of what's useful, and what's not, in order to execute a great recording. I can't wait to hang with you! Scott

Scott is a master of his craft, full of enthusiasm while also retaining an incredible amount of patience. I’ve learned so much from him and wouldn’t be where I am today without his guidance. His love of music translates so deeply in his lessons and I would 10/10 recommend him anyone looking to dive into the world of production.

Scott has taught me more than I ever thought I needed to know. He is patient, fun, engaging and really talented. He literally showed me how to take my song I had on the guitar and produce it from start to finish with all the instrument I heard in my head. Also, his music rules :)
