About Peter

Hi there! My name is Peter - I'm originally from the US, but have spent the majority of the last few years traveling around the world and am currently based in Australia. I have a love for learning about other people, places, and things! I studied International Relations at university with a hope of working around the world helping others once I graduated. Years of working in the service and hospitality industry have cultivated a passion for connecting with others and dedicating my life to helping those around me. I bring that same passion and dedication to my teaching! I spent over four years learning French as well as brief stretches learning Swahili, Wolof, and Spanish. All of this time spent studying these languages failed to help me speak them in the long run because the focus was always on the grammar, memorizing vocabulary, and practicing rules that were slowly becoming obsolete. I craved real-world practice that could shape my pronunciation and in-person interactions. This experience is what guides my instruction for those looking to learn and improve their English. English is not an easy language to learn, we can all agree on that. However, a compassionate and understanding tutor who is eager to let you practice in a personalized manner can make all of the difference. I'm excited to learn more about you and help shape your future as a fluent English speaker - whether it is your second, third, or even ninth language!

About the lesson

My teaching style is all about real world application. We'll utilize standard educational materials (workbooks, exercises, and grammar lessons) to shape the understanding of everyday conversations and interactions. Lessons are 30 or 60 minutes long with the majority of the time spent speaking in conversation! Lessons are for all ages, but will fit best for adults looking to learn English for trips, jobs, or socializing.
