About Jaycie

Hello! I’m a native Mandarin speaker from Malaysia based in London for over 10 years. I teach children and adults of all levels and I specialise in creating engaging, confidence-building lessons tailored to your specific goals and personality.

• For Toddlers & Young Children (Ages 2+): Play-based immersion using games, songs, and creative storytelling so Mandarin feels joyful from day one. Ideal for bilingual families and children attending Chinese school.
• For School Students (Primary to A-Level): Targeted support for GCSE, A-level, and Chinese school assessments, building both fluency and exam confidence, at the right pace for each student.
• For Adults & Professionals: Conversational Mandarin, HSK exam prep, or professional language skills. As a qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) and King's College London law graduate, I bring a structured, logical approach that busy professionals appreciate.

I believe language learning should be warm, interactive, and never intimidating. Every lesson is personalised — whether that means puppets and games for a toddler, debate prep for a teenager, or business conversation practice for a professional.

About the lesson

Every student learns differently, so I always tailor my lessons based on your age, level, goals and learning style.

For young children, I focus on creating a positive and engaging environment through games, storytelling, songs, role-play and interactive activities. My aim is not only to improve their Mandarin, but also to help them become more confident communicating and expressing themselves.

For teenagers and adult learners, lessons may focus on conversational Mandarin, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary building, exam preparation (GCSE/HSK), business Mandarin or cultural communication depending on your objectives.

I strongly believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable and encouraged. My teaching style is patient, supportive and interactive, and I always aim to make lessons enjoyable and practical rather than overly textbook-focused.

During our first lesson, I usually take time to understand your goals, strengths and areas for improvement so that I can create a learning approach that works best for you.

This first lesson offered with Jaycie will allow you to get to know each other and clearly specify your needs for your next lessons.

Face-to-face lessons are available for students located within a 30-60 minute travel distance from Canary Wharf.

Online lessons are also available and can be tailored for both children and adults.

For in-person lessons at your location, a small travel fee may apply depending on travel time and distance:

Within 20 minutes - £20/session
Between 20-40 minutes - £25/session
Between 40-60 minutes - £30/session

(Travel arrangements can also be discussed flexibly on a case-by-case basis.)

Cancellation policy: Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full.
