About OLIVIA
I’m an incoming M.A. student in English at New York University and a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I studied Economics and English and worked as both a teaching assistant and peer tutor. Throughout my academic work, I’ve developed strong experience in analytical writing across disciplines, including literary analysis, economics research, and data-driven projects.
I enjoy working closely with students to help them build clarity, confidence, and independence in their work. Whether it’s refining an essay, preparing for the SAT, or improving overall academic performance, I aim to create a focused and supportive environment where students can make real progress.
I’ve worked with students at different levels and understand that each one learns differently. I prioritize clear communication, consistency, and professionalism, and I’m always responsive to both students and parents. My goal is not just to help students succeed in the short term, but to give them skills they can carry forward.
I’m based in New York City and offer both in-person and remote sessions with flexible scheduling.

My approach is centered on building strong thinking and writing skills, not just improving short-term performance. I focus on helping students structure ideas clearly, develop arguments, and express themselves with precision and confidence.
In a typical session, I begin by identifying the student’s goals and areas of difficulty. From there, we work through material together—this might involve outlining an essay, revising a draft line-by-line, or practicing SAT passages with a focus on strategy and pattern recognition. Sessions are interactive, with an emphasis on helping students understand why something works, not just how to fix it. It is my responsibility to learn how a student thinks and to meet them where they are. If they are having difficulty with something, whether it be a math problem or a reading passage, I make sure to not merely correct them and explain in my own terms, but to explain in a way they will understand and be able to apply to other problems independently.
My background spans both humanities and quantitative writing. At Wesleyan, I wrote extensively across disciplines, including literary analysis, economics research papers, and data-driven projects using statistical methods. I have experience developing long-form arguments, working with complex sources, and refining writing through multiple drafts—skills I bring directly into my tutoring.
For writing, I emphasize clarity, structure, and voice. For test prep, I focus on building repeatable strategies that students can apply independently. In my experience, SAT success is not only found through understanding the subject matter, but in understanding the way in which questions are asked. Strategy, and being able to identify those patterns, makes for a much more confident test-taker. I also provide clear takeaways at the end of each session so students leave with direction and momentum.
What sets me apart is my ability to teach writing at a high level while adapting to each student’s needs. As an incoming NYU MA student in English and former teaching assistant, I’m trained not just to evaluate writing, but to help students improve it in a lasting way.
My lessons are best suited for high school students (including honors/AP levels), as well as those preparing for college applications or the SAT. I also work with middle school students and offer broader academic support when helpful.

I recommend weekly sessions to build consistency and measurable progress. For writing and college essay support, I typically work with students over multiple sessions to develop ideas, structure, and revision skills.
I offer discounted packages for students planning ongoing sessions. A brief introductory call (20–30 minutes) is available to discuss goals and ensure a good fit.
I’m flexible with scheduling and offer both in-person (NYC) and online sessions.
