About Daniel
I am an Oxford undergraduate in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, but have studied English Litertaure and English at a specialised level. I achieved an A* at A Level, which is incredibly rare for the subject and have a wealth of experience covering classical to postmodern literature. I have assisted students my own age and under for over three years now and have a passion for the subject, as well as teaching it.

I aim to make the learning process of English as interactive and relatable as possible. I want the student to really gain an in depth knowledge of whatever we are studying, and encourage interpretations and ideas that may be off the beaten track. An important part of the process is to foster interest within the student to go on and do work off their own back to learn more; this is the best way for a student of any level to improve their skills. An important part of my process is to have a few areas that I prepare and aim for us to go through, such as the context of a piece of writing or the alluded meaning, but other than that I prefer to let the student lead with their own interpretation, whilst I guide where the discussion takes us.
This may be in the form of a short essay written beforehand, or some reading I have set, but in all cases it will be entirely driven by the needs of the student and parent - whatever approach is best for them (hands on, or more student-led) will be the one I adopt as I feel this is the best way to ensure that all students of all abilities and personalities are made for. Small groups of this size are conducive to success as students have more confidence to make their ideas heard. Indeed, this is the style of teaching that Oxford advocates and uses at degree level - I believe it is applicable all the way down and I aim to bring some of that excellence to all of my students.

Dan helped me with my successful application for PPE at Oxford University, he was incredibly helpful with my personal statement, my TSA and interviews, giving me a lot of information that I wouldn't have had otherwise. He was also very friendly and reliable, I would definitely recommend.
