About Nathan

I’m Nathan, a friendly and approachable biology tutor with a strong academic background and a genuine love for the subject. I achieved an A in A-Level Biology, completed a BSc in Physiotherapy and am now studying an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience: Neuromuscular Disease. Biology has been the thread running through all of my studies, from GCSE to my current research, and I still treat it like a hobby – I regularly read and explore topics beyond the curriculum simply because I enjoy it.

Alongside my academic work, I have extensive experience working with children in early years and school-age settings, supporting them in developing confidence, skills and independence. I know first-hand how powerful a good tutor can be, and I aim to be that for my students by being personable, patient and easy to talk to. No one learns well when they dread their lessons, so my priority is to create a positive, relaxed space where questions are encouraged, mistakes are normal, and we can build understanding step by step.

My goal is to help students become the best they can be in biology – whether that means securing a solid pass, pushing for top grades, or feeling more at ease with a subject they’ve previously struggled with. I focus on making sessions engaging and enjoyable while still challenging, so students develop both strong subject knowledge and the exam techniques they need to show it. Learning really happens when there is a commitment and a spark of interest, and that’s what I hope to share with every student I work with.

About the lesson

My lessons are all about combining deep subject knowledge with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. With an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience of Neuromuscular Disease near completion and a BSc in Physiotherapy, I can confidently support students from KS3 and GCSE all the way up to A-level and BSc biology, explaining everything from the absolute basics to more advanced cellular and systems physiology in a clear, down-to-earth way. Over 100 hours of online tutoring with students of different ages, abilities and exam boards has taught me that people learn best when they feel comfortable, listened to and genuinely supported, so sessions are always personable, encouraging and judgement-free.

Each lesson is tailored to how that individual learns best: for some students, that means lots of exam-style practice questions and timed work; for others, it’s going back to the foundations and slowly building confidence through repeated coverage of core content, diagrams, and simple explanations that we gradually layer up. A typical session lasts 60 minutes (with the option for longer), and we’ll agree together whether to focus on revisiting class topics, filling in tricky gaps, or stretching into higher-level understanding, so that every lesson feels purposeful rather than like “extra homework”.

Whether you’re a Year 7 just starting out, tackling your GCSEs or A-levels, or an undergraduate wanting to dive deeper into anatomy, physiology, or neurobiology, my lessons are for you. Wherever you start, you’ll leave each session feeling encouraged, more confident, and proud of the progress you’ve made on your learning journey.
