About Chingis
About me
I'm a PhD candidate in Economics at Queen Mary University of London, currently completing my dissertation on macroeconomic risk and inequality. Before and during my PhD, I've taught at the London School of Economics, Queen Mary, and City, University of London — covering everything from first-year microeconomics to postgraduate policy modules.
Alongside teaching, I've worked as an economist at the IMF and in economic consulting, so my approach to tutoring is shaped by seeing how these tools and concepts actually get used outside the classroom — not just how to pass an exam with them, but why the methods matter.
I work fluently across Stata, R, MATLAB, and Python, and I'm a native Kazakh and Russian speaker with intermediate Turkish, so I'm comfortable supporting international students who may be studying in their second or third language.
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the moment a concept "clicks" — especially with econometrics and statistics, where the gap between confusion and confidence is often just one clear explanation away. I'm patient, structured, and genuinely invested in my students actually understanding the material, not just getting through the session.

Full range across everything — that's actually the right call for a Superprof profile since it maximises who can find you, as long as the description is organised clearly so it doesn't read as unfocused. Here's the "About my lessons" section:
About my lessons
I tailor every lesson to the student's level and goals, whether that's building foundations for an undergraduate exam or troubleshooting a specific error in a PhD dissertation model.
Levels: Undergraduate, Masters, PhD/dissertation support, and working professionals looking to upskill in economics or data analysis.
Subjects:
Core economics (micro, macro, intro econometrics)
Applied econometrics and statistics (regression, panel data, time series, forecasting)
Software: Stata, R, MATLAB, and Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn)
Dissertation and research project support — from research design to running and interpreting models
Format: Available online or in-person in London, whichever works best for you.
My approach: I focus first on making sure you understand why a method works, not just how to run it — this makes exam answers stronger and dissertation chapters more defensible when you're asked to justify your choices. For software-heavy sessions, we usually work directly with your actual code or dataset, since debugging a real problem teaches the concept faster than a generic example.
I have taught at LSE, Queen Mary University of London, and City, University of London, and I'm currently a PhD candidate in Economics completing my own dissertation — so I understand both sides of the process, as a teacher and as someone actively doing the work myself.
