About Phoenix

About Me
Hi, I am Phoenix! As a senior at Crescent Valley High School in Corvallis, Oregon, I am deeply passionate about creative writing, essays, and poetry. Writing is a powerful tool for self-expression and academic success, and my goal is to make the process engaging, clear, and stress-free for every student.

Why Work With Me?
Writing can feel overwhelming, but with the right support, any student can thrive. As a current high school senior, I bring a fresh, firsthand understanding of modern rubrics, teacher expectations, and curriculum standards. I bridge the gap between rigid academic requirements and creative expression, offering patient, reliable, and results-driven support tailored to each learner.

My Teaching Method
Interactive Editing: We work line-by-line through drafts to build editing skills and improve flow, tone, and grammar.

Structured Scaffolding: I break down large assignments—from multi-page research papers to creative short stories—into manageable, actionable steps.

Confidence-Building: Beyond just fixing mistakes, I explain why changes are made so students develop skills they can use independently.

What a Typical Session Looks Like
Goal Setting (5 mins): Review assignment rubrics and identify targets for the hour.

Brainstorming & Structure (15 mins): Draft outlines, map out thesis statements, or organize creative concepts.

Focused Review (30 mins): Work through writing together to improve clarity, vocabulary, and argument strength.

Action Plan (10 mins): Set clear, manageable steps for the student to complete before our next meeting.

Student Levels & Services Offered
Elementary & Middle School: Core grammar, foundational essay structure, and creative writing.

High School (Freshmen–Juniors): Literary analysis, academic essay drafting, argument construction, and poetry.

Independent Projects: Guidance for students looking to refine creative writing portfolios or personal stories outside of school.

Meeting Formats & Location
In-Person: Corvallis area (local libraries, community centers, or agreed-upon public spaces).

Virtual: Online via Google Meet.

My Teaching Style
I offer supportive, step-by-step guidance tailored to each student. Instead of just fixing mistakes, I teach students how to improve their own work so they gain lasting confidence in their writing.

What a Lesson Looks Like
Every session starts with clear goals—whether that's brainstorming a new essay, fixing structural issues, or polishing creative details. We review drafts together, focus on flow and tone, and finish with a clear set of next steps.

Why Work With Me?
As a high school senior, I know exactly what current writing assignments feel like. I combine up-to-date academic knowledge with a genuine love for storytelling and poetry, making sessions feel collaborative instead of like extra schoolwork.
