About ANOUSHKA

Hello! My name is Anoushka, and I am a Psychobiology student at UCLA with strong experience in math and science and a passion for teaching and mentorship. I began tutoring in high school, where I helped classmates understand challenging subjects like biology and calculus by breaking concepts into clear, manageable steps. Since then, I have continued mentoring students through programs focused on supporting younger learners, and I am currently part of UCLA’s Learning Assistant program, where I facilitate undergraduate student learning in biochemistry. Through these experiences, I have developed strong communication skills and a patient, supportive teaching style that helps students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging with difficult material.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor focuses on helping students build confidence while truly understanding the reasoning behind math and science concepts. Instead of relying on memorization, I guide students through step-by-step problem solving and encourage them to explain their thinking so they develop stronger analytical skills. I typically begin lessons with a quick review of previous material, introduce new concepts with clear explanations and examples, and then work through guided and independent practice problems to reinforce understanding. I also use visual aids, real-world examples, and interactive questions to keep students engaged and make abstract ideas easier to grasp. What sets me apart is my strong STEM background and my emphasis on creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. My lessons are designed for middle school students (grades 6–8) taking math or general science courses who want to strengthen foundational skills, prepare for tests, or gain confidence in subjects that may feel challenging.
