About Irene
Hi there! I am a writer, artist and MA student at Columbia. Writing, literature, and language have been strengths of mine for some time. I have been providing tutoring for four years and have helped students improve their reading comprehension, assembly of argumentative essays, sentence structure, and vocabulary.

My teaching approach is very dependent on what the student needs. For middle school students, I focus on word choice, breaking down a sentence, and how to tell a story. For high schoolers, we work on integrating citations, expanding vocabulary, supporting an argument, and how to edit a paper after the first draft. For college-age students, I provide advice on research skills, how to write long form (50+ pages), reference tools, maintaining flow throughout a paper, and how to academically engage/disagree with multiple sources in a paper. Of course, lessons are not limited to these themes and I am happy to tailor any session to the student’s main concerns.
