About Betty

Good day! I am SIAO, ANHUEI (Betty), a certified and experienced Mandarin Chinese teacher with 13 years of teaching experience. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of helping nearly 900 international students master the language.

My students come from all over the world, with a particular connection to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Having spent six years teaching in this beautiful Caribbean nation, I have taught many Vincentian students.

I am confident in my ability to guide Mandarin learners, even those with no prior knowledge of the language, and support them on their language-learning journey with tailored and effective teaching methods.

Beyond teaching, I am passionate about empowering fellow educators. I provide consultation services for those looking to enhance their Mandarin teaching skills or enter the field.

About the lesson

If you have never learned Mandarin Chinese before:

1.Oral practice is the first! After you are confident with speaking Mandarin Chinese, we will move forward to reading and writing (typing) skills.

2.To help you get knowledge without too much pressure, I still use a certain percentage of English at first, however, when your Mandarin Chinese gets better and better, fewer and fewer English will be used, then we could achieve our goal: 100% Mandarin in class. (P.S. If you are willing to have 100% Mandarin Chinese course, it is extremely encouraged!)

3.Reading and writing (typing) are a little bit challenging, but I sincerely suggest you DO NOT give them up in the beginning. The truth is that there are lots of Chinese characters with the same pronunciation, I hope you spend time mastering them, and I will try my best supporting you as well.

If you have already learned Mandarin Chinese before:

1.To evaluate your Mandarin Chinese level and know your learning objective first, then customize your own course.

2.The topics not only focus on daily conversation, but also use some specific skills-training, such as mastering Chinese characters, pronunciation-correction and test-oriented. (You could list your needs after joining my course, then I could discuss it with you in detail.)
