About Aaron
Not only am I well-traveled and highly educated, but I'm also an experienced teacher of non-native speakers. I've tutored college students in English and taught classes for primary, secondary, and business schools; I've led graduate-level classes in anthropology, primatology, and archaeology; and I've personally tutored students from several socio-economic classes, cultures, and races in everything from philosophy to physics. This breadth of experience meshes with my personal experiences as a learner of foreign languages, cultures, and global history, all with ADHD. To be the best teacher I can be, I reflect on my experiences as a learner with ADHD. Through feedback and reflection, I've found student-centered approaches like project-based or inquiry-based learning to be the best methods for engagement and retention. Problems demand solutions. They call on students' active participation and problem-solving, thereby personalizing their learning. At the core of my approach is an appreciation and sensitivity to the discomfort inherent in the learning process. Prioritizing respect, care, and personalized needs for students enriches the experience, leading to their engagement in the learning process and material broadly.

My lesson plans will adapt according to students' needs. However, lesson plans are broken into four sections: 1. Introduction/warm-up; 2. guided activities; 3. targeted correction, direct explanation, or conversation; 4. independent activities (homework), gamified lesson, or a student-focused activity related to targeted correction.
I'm willing to tutor any subject paralleling my fields of expertise in creative writing, business or professional English, grammar, phonetics, reading comprehension, world literature, philosophy, geography, history, social studies, anthropology, psychology, sociology, and test-taking strategies for tests like the SAT and GRE.
