Hello! I’m a fully qualified English teacher with 3 years of classroom experience, specialising in GCSE and A-Level English Language and Literature. I hold a BA in English from the University of York and completed my PGCE at the University of Oxford. About the lesson

Techniques and Teaching Methodology: - I focus on building clarity and confidence, especially in areas students often find challenging — like analysing unseen texts, structuring essays, and mastering exam technique. - My sessions blend model answers, exam board guidance, and interactive discussion, so students develop both knowledge and exam skills. - I use retrieval practice, scaffolding, and guided writing to help students retain content and improve steadily over time. - Where appropriate, I incorporate real-time feedback and collaborative annotation, especially useful for poetry, drama, and coursework support. Typical Lesson Format: - Lessons usually last 60 minutes, although longer or shorter sessions can be arranged. A typical lesson includes: - A quick review of previous learning - A focus on one key skill or topic - Exam-style practice or discussion - A takeaway task or revision strategy - Lessons are conducted online via Zoom or Google Meet, or in person if local. Qualifications & Experience: - BA in English, University of York - PGCE in Secondary English, University of Oxford - 3 years of classroom experience teaching GCSE and A-Level English Literature and Language - Extensive experience supporting students across a range of abilities, including those working towards grades 4–5 as well as those aiming for grades 8–9.
