About Dumebi

As a university student studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), I’ve experienced firsthand how challenging it can be to develop a love for maths. Struggling with the subject myself, I understand the frustration and barriers that students face. This personal journey has fuelled my desire to be a positive change for my students. I want to teach maths not only to share my knowledge but also to transform the way students perceive the subject. By creating engaging and supportive lessons, I aim to help students overcome their difficulties and build a genuine interest in maths. My goal is to make learning maths an enjoyable and rewarding experience, ensuring that students develop both confidence and a lasting appreciation for the subject.

My Approach to Tutoring and How I Teach My Classes As a passionate and experienced tutor currently studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at university, my approach to tutoring is centred around creating an engaging, supportive, and personalised learning experience for each student. Teaching Techniques and Methodology: My teaching methodology is rooted in understanding each student's unique learning style and adapting my methods accordingly. I focus on: - Personalised Learning: I begin by assessing the student's current understanding and identifying areas for improvement. I then tailor my lessons to address these specific needs, ensuring that each student gets the most out of our sessions. - Interactive and Engaging Lessons: I believe learning should be an enjoyable experience. I incorporate interactive elements such as games, real-world examples, and practical exercises to make lessons more engaging and relatable for young learners. - Building Strong Foundations: For primary school students, it's essential to build a strong foundation in maths. I emphasise understanding fundamental concepts before moving on to more complex topics, ensuring students have a solid base to build upon. - Encouraging Critical Thinking: I aim to develop students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills by encouraging them to ask questions, explore different methods, and think independently. This approach helps them gain confidence and improves their overall academic performance. Typical Length of a Lesson: Each tutoring session typically lasts 45 to 120 minutes. This duration allows enough time to cover the necessary material without overwhelming the student. I find that this length keeps young students focused and engaged, ensuring they get the most benefit from each lesson. Qualifications and Experience as a Tutor: I am a dedicated university student currently pursuing a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). My background in maths and experience as a tutor with Action Tutoring have equipped me with the skills to help students improve significantly in their studies. In my previous tutoring role, I helped several primary school students improve their maths grades by at least 1.5 levels. My experience also includes creating customised learning plans and adapting my teaching style to suit each student’s needs, ensuring effective learning outcomes. Who My Lessons Are For: My lessons are designed for primary/middle school students (ages 6-16) who are looking to improve their maths skills. Whether your child is struggling to grasp basic concepts or looking to excel beyond their current level, my tutoring services can provide the support they need. I cater to all levels, from those needing foundational support to those seeking to challenge themselves further.
