About Amelia
I am passionate about learning and education so will always do my best to express that. I will help you be the best you can, but am cognizant that everyone has different boundaries and I respect those limits. I am a fairly casual person, so if you choose me as a tutor, please don’t expect any strict formalities. I don’t expect any strict formalities from you, either. However, I must explicitly state now that a casual attitude and environment is not permission or encouragement of disrespect. I still want the lessons to be fun, positive, and most importantly: helpful!
As for my qualifications:
I hold an MA with Distinction from Durham University (UK) and a BA from Bryn Mawr College. I studied Archaeology at both, concentrating in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology (with a larger emphasis on Near Eastern).

I prefer to work with older students, but I‘m more than happy to work with younger kids, too.
I like to have an initial meeting with the student & work with them to create the best plan for them (in terms of content to target, length of lesson, time of day, how they learn best, etc). Everyone learns differently and it’s important to offer as much support as I can.
History is such a vibrant and exciting subject and I’d love to help show how amazing it can be (as well as some tips to remember all those dates and people).
Writing, especially academic writing, is equally fun! It usually involves a heavy dose of research, which is fantastic. It can be difficult at first and hard to sift through lots of jargon, but it’s usually interesting to read AND write!
