About Ellen

I know it's not very cool to say, but I have loved math from when I was a kid. From doing addition with my rubber cutlery on the kitchen table as a toddler to being the kid who asked the most questions year 12 just to make sure I understood what the teacher was explaining, my passion has always been present. However, through a combination of teachers who I didn't connect with and topics that confused me, somewhere in the middle my love was lost. So I want to use my passion for teaching to ensure no student has to go through the dread of another math class that will leave them feeling worse than when they started. My job is to share my knowledge so I can watch my students blossom into confident, independent thinkers. I’m a recent St Leonard’s College graduate who achieved a raw study score of 40 in General Math and has over a year of tutoring experience. On top of that, I am someone with ADHD. Therefore, I've developed my own strategies to stay organized, unravel tricky concepts, and manage study stress throughout school. Now, I’m excited to pass those techniques on to students who might struggle with traditional learning styles. When I’m not tutoring, I’m on the AFL field—whether I’m playing or coaching, I love the camaraderie and community it brings to my life. Currently, I’m enjoying a gap year, exploring new learning opportunities and figuring out the next steps in my education. Tutoring has become a fantastic way for me to keep learning, connect with others, and help students achieve their goals!

About the lesson

I specialize in VCE General Maths tutoring, with a strong focus on exam techniques and building students’ confidence. I believe that mastering exam strategies not only improves test performance but also empowers students to approach challenging problems with a positive mindset.

In our 1-2 hour sessions, I tailor lessons to target your specific learning needs—breaking down complex topics into manageable parts, practicing past exam questions, and teaching time-saving methods to reduce exam stress. My approach is rooted in my own experience overcoming academic challenges, and I’m committed to sharing effective study techniques that will help you become an independent and confident learner.
