About Lavinia

I’m a second-year Law student with a genuine passion for helping others and making a positive difference wherever I can.

I’ve always loved working with children, whether through charity work, mentoring, or spending time with my two younger siblings and many cousins, who have often been my little students! What started as helping them with their schoolwork quickly became something I genuinely love doing.

Having grown up around children, I’ve learnt how important it is to make learning fun, engaging, and suited to each child’s individual learning style.
I’m a friendly, patient, and energetic person who loves trying new activities, listening to others, and getting to know different personalities.
I want every child I teach to feel comfortable, supported, and confident enough to ask questions without fear of getting things wrong.
For me, tutoring is about more than just improving grades; it’s about helping children believe in themselves and discover what they’re capable of achieving!

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each child’s individual needs, helping them build confidence and develop a genuine understanding of maths. Having struggled with maths myself as a student, I understand how frustrating it can be when concepts just don’t seem to click. I believe in breaking topics down into simple, manageable steps and practising regularly until everything starts to make sense. With a structured approach and consistent revision, I aim to help children remember what they learn, tackle exam questions confidently, and eventually enjoy maths rather than see it as a chore!

I have over three years of one-to-one tutoring experience, alongside experience working with children through mentoring, babysitting, and children’s charities. I hold GCSE and A-level qualifications in Maths and can support children from Reception through to Year 11, with a particular love for teaching GCSE Maths.

Lessons typically last 1–2 hours, with multiple sessions per week available. My priority is to create a patient, encouraging environment where children feel comfortable asking questions, learning at their own pace, and celebrating their progress.
