About Amber

I am a 25-year-old Senior of Secondary English Education with teaching experience in all age groups. One thing that sets me apart as a tutor is that although I have teaching experience, I am still a student. I understand and empathize with the student’s struggles. As a senior student at Liberty University Online, I also can empathize with the difficulties that come with online learning. During my academic career, I have seen it all, from paper only, to the introduction of smart boards, to student-issued computers, to online synchronous Zoom meetings, to asynchronous online classes where the student is teaching themselves the material. I have struggled with the latter myself; asynchronous online learning is difficult and for a long time it stalled my academic progress. However, learning self-discipline and getting assistance from real tutors that I could interact with changed my academic experience with asynchronous learning. I want to encourage my students that they can be successful academically no matter what challenges they face!

About the lesson

My tutoring lessons are centered around student lead learning and goal-oriented effort. Therefore, each tutoring lesson is not only a step towards achieving English academic success, but an achievement of courage, confidence, and increased mastery of skills. Each tutoring session will begin with a brief needs assessment consultation. Together, the student and the tutor will determine a course of action and create a goal for the session that works towards the overall goal. During lesson Instruction, I provide clear and direct explanation, and I make regular checks for understanding. Each lesson will include a connecting activity that will allow students to practice the skills, and whenever possible, these activities will be gamified to engage the student and increase the likelihood that the student can repeat the skills in practice academically. Overall, my lessons are designed to support, engage, and encourage the student.

I go to church with Amber and have known her for many years. She is a strong Christian who truly lives for the Lord, and her character shines through in everything she does. Amber is honest, kind, and genuinely cares about helping others succeed.

One thing I appreciate most about Amber is her patience and the way she encourages people while teaching. She has many talents and uses them to bless others in a positive and uplifting way. Through our years at church together, I have seen her dedication, faithfulness, and willingness to help anyone in need.

I highly recommend Amber to future students. She is trustworthy, knowledgeable, and a wonderful person to learn from.
