Perfect! Miriam is incredibly patient, she is very gentle and gives plenty of encouragement. She always brings some new methodology to class, she ensures that she gives plenty of guidance & works on the songs at a good pace.

I came to my first lesson with Mariam with two convictions I was sure would hold me back: that my voice was too low for a woman, and that my age (I am in my 50s) had already decided what I was (and was not) capable of. Both these ideas turned out to be entirely wrong, and dismantling them has been one of the most liberating experiences of my adult life.
What struck me from the very beginning was the warmth and attentiveness Mariam brought to teaching. When the early exercises started to click (i.e when I managed to follow an instruction and get it right) her response was a enthusiastic and wholehearted “Yes!” It may have only been a small moment, but it felt like finding the first good hold on a climbing route I hadn’t believed I could attempt.
In just a couple of weeks, classical singing has opened my new doors of perception (paraphrased intentionally). I now listen to an aria the way I would listen to a newly learned language, hearing not just sound but ideas, feelings and lived experience. That shift has given me something I wasn’t anticipating when I signed up: a sense of higher purpose.
Mariam brings to her teaching a culture and artistic tradition of extraordinary depth and beauty. That she shares it so generously, with such care and dedication, is something I consider a genuine privilege. ️
