About Jackie

I have been tutoring math for over 15 years. On average, my students improve by up to 20 percentage points. I have worked with students who have a variety of learning disabilities, including short-term memory problems and math dyslexia. I limit time spent on math to no more than 3 hours at a time because I have found that those for whom math doesn't come easily generally don't absorb anything after that point. My goal isn't just to help students complete assignments correctly, but to help them truly understand the material so they are able to do better on quizzes and tests, which often make up a significant part of their grade.

About the lesson

I tailor my lessons to my students. I only have a few basic rules. 1) I don't give answers. I help you find them yourself. 2) I don't help on quizzes or tests. I prepare you to take them yourself with confidence. 3) I will try as long as you are willing to try. If you aren't willing to try, you're wasting my time as well as your own. Bring questions to your sessions. It helps me to better know what you need help with. "There are only 2 types of stupid questions: the one you don't ask and the one you already know the answer to."

Jackie is such a good math tutor. I am terrible at math and I needed a tutor for all my math classes in college. She is exceptional.
