About Ruby
I am a skilled singing tutor with 9 years of experience teaching college-level students. I have successfully mentored around 150 students, helping them build strong vocal technique and stage confidence. My teaching philosophy is rooted in cultural sensitivity, problem-solving, and open-mindedness, allowing each learner to explore singing styles that feel meaningful to them. My teaching method for Singing, Vocal Technique, and Music Theory centers on helping learners grow their voice while respecting their individual background and creative expression. With years of experience guiding vocalists, I have built a methodology that values both technical skill and personal identity in music.
Cultural sensitivity is a major part of how I teach. Singing styles and traditions vary widely across cultures, and I make it a point to understand and respect each learner's musical background, bringing in genres or songs that feel meaningful to them, whether classical, folk, playback, or modern styles.
Problem-solving is central to my sessions. Every learner meets different challenges, whether breath control, pitch accuracy, or vocal strain. I work closely with each learner to pinpoint the root cause of their difficulty and guide them through practical exercises and techniques to overcome it effectively.
Open-mindedness shapes how I approach teaching overall. I stay flexible with different singing styles, techniques, and learner preferences, avoiding a one size fits all method. I encourage learners to explore various genres and find their own unique sound rather than forcing a rigid approach.
My sessions usually begin with breathing drills and vocal warm ups to build a strong technical base. From there, I move to pitch training, tone development, and breath support, gradually adding music theory basics such as rhythm and note reading.
For more experienced learners, I focus on stage presence, dynamic control, and genre specific techniques, along with recording practice to prepare them for studio work.
I tailor my teaching to match each learner's personal goals, whether they sing for enjoyment, prepare for auditions, or build a professional career. My overall aim is to create a culturally aware, open minded, and problem solving space where every learner feels comfortable exploring and growing their voice.
