About Philip
I am a non-traditional student. I spent 15 years in professional management before returning to school earning my GED and AA from Front Range Community College Larimer Campus, and then my BA and MA in Sociology and Gender Studies at University of Northern Colorado. I have four years of experience as a teaching assistant and research assistant. I understand how important both education and self-actualization are for an engaged growth mindset. After earning my masters degree in 2020, I have continued my passion for education and pedagogy in a range of sociological, feminist and queer theoretical studies. I also have a passion for history, geography and the arts. We never stop learning, why not love the process.

My curriculum includes the use of discussion and mixed-media presentation. In providing an active and inquiry based learning curriculum, I offer students ways to think critically about the material being presented, promote creative ways for to engage with the material, and encourage bold thinking in inviting criticism and discussion.
It is my goal to incorporate unique and creative ways to learn. Instead of having students simply memorize testable answers, my inquiry guided learning integrates student elected content to help educate and develop their sociological imagination. Connecting with a topic or concept of relevance promotes a sense of ownership to education while also making the material enjoyable. Inquiry guided learning also promotes a wide range of lesson formats; allowing for entry to professional level curriculum.
