About Pat

I am a certified Special Education teacher in New York State with several years of experience working with middle and high school students in both general education and special education settings. Throughout my career, I have helped students improve their academic performance, develop stronger study habits, and build confidence in their abilities.

I specialize in working with students who may need additional support, including those with learning disabilities, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, or gaps in foundational skills. My approach is patient, encouraging, and individualized, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to succeed.

About the lesson

Teaching methods:
-a combination of direct instruction, guided practice, and positive reinforcement
-encourage discussion, critical thinking, and problem-solving rather than simply providing answers

A Typical Lesson:
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material and an assessment of the student's current understanding. We then work on the lesson objective through instruction, examples, and guided practice. Students are given opportunities to apply what they have learned independently while I provide feedback and support. I end each session with a summary of key concepts and recommendations for continued practice.

What Sets Me Apart:
What sets me apart is my experience as a Special Education teacher. I have worked extensively with students who have learning disabilities, attention challenges, and executive functioning difficulties. I understand how to differentiate instruction, provide appropriate accommodations, and help students build confidence in their abilities. I focus not only on academic success but also on developing organization, study skills, and self-advocacy.

I specialize in English Language Arts, reading comprehension, writing, study skills, and general academic support.
