1. Techniques and Teaching Methodology My core methodology is the C.A.R.E. Framework, designed to ensure deep conceptual understanding and sustained confidence: Phase Technique Description i. Connect Real-World Relevance & Visualization I start by linking the new mathematical concept to something tangible or familiar (e.g., using personal finance for percentages, or bridge architecture for parabolas). I often use diagrams and physical or digital tools to illustrate abstract ideas. ii. Analyze Deconstruction & Guided Practice I do break complex problems down into basic component steps. I model the solution and then guide the student through similar problems. I prioritize why a formula works over just how to use it. iii. Reason Inquiry & Error Analysis Students are encouraged to explain their reasoning. When mistakes happen, I do treat them as data points not failures. I do analyze the error to find the exact point of misunderstanding, cementing the correct logic. iv. Embed Spaced Repetition & Mixed Practice I frequently revisit past topics and mix problem types to build fluency and ensure long-term retention, preventing knowledge from being forgotten immediately after a test. 2. Typical Length of a Lesson The length of a lesson is flexible and tailored to the student's age, attention span, and topic complexity. i. Tutoring Sessions (One-on-One): Optimal Length: 60 minutes for middle school and high school students. This is enough time to cover a new concept, practice several examples, and review homework without causing mental fatigue. Younger Students (Ages 8-12): Often benefit from 45-50 minutes to maintain focus. ii. Classroom Lessons (Group Setting): 45-75 minutes, depending on the school's schedule. The methodology above is adapted to group dynamics, incorporating more quick, collaborative exercises. 3. My Qualifications/Experience As I am currently enrolling, my qualifications are centered on my educational background and preparation: Education: I hold a Bachelor of Technology and a Master of Technology in Chemical Engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology. This rigorous training included intensive, advanced coursework in Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Statistics, ensuring a deep mastery of the complex mathematical foundation required in engineering. Furthermore, my academic career has equipped me with proven pedagogical methods to effectively simplify and teach challenging concepts, guaranteeing student understanding and success in all levels of mathematics. Preparation/Certification: I am prepared as Engr. of Chemical Engineering. Relevant Experience (If Applicable): I possess a substantial and successful teaching history spanning over 13 years. This experience began with a dedicated nine-year tenure (2012-2021) teaching mathematics and physics to secondary school students, building a strong foundation in foundational concepts and student-centered learning. Since 2021, I have advanced my pedagogical skills as a university lecturer within a rigorous Chemical Engineering curriculum. This dual experience provides a unique advantage: the ability to simplify complex high school material while preparing students with the advanced analytical strategies demanded at the university level. 4. Who are My Lessons For? (Level, Age, etc.) I am equipped to teach and tutor a broad range of students: Student Level Typical Age Range Core Focus Areas a. Middle School- 11-14 years (Pre-Algebra, Ratios, Proportions, basic Geometry, problem-solving skills, and foundational number sense). b. High School 14-18 years (Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and preparation for standardized tests). c. Introductory University 18+ years College Algebra, introductory Calculus, or Statistics)
