About Michelle
Let me start by saying I struggled with school growing up and did not have the opportunity or accessibility to extra educational assistance. Therefore, I struggled most of my years in middle school and high school. I began college out of high school but did not make it past my sophomore year. I went to a trade school and received a Cosmetology license, which is what I did for several years. I continued my education one college class at a time until I had enough credits to receive vocational certification. I had a mentor who told me she thought I would be a great teacher one day and to pursue a degree. I didn't know what I could teach but it quickly came to mind that Cosmetology was all I had experienced. Except for serving ice cream at our local Tasty Freeze and I didn't think there was much of a calling for a teaching program. Therefore, I became a Cosmetology instructor to secondary and post secondary students. Through the years I became more interested in the many ways people communicate so I continued my education at Regis University which is where I received both a BA and MA degrees in Communication.

I am a retired career and technical education teacher. I taught in the classroom for twenty seven years. There are various learning styles and I am able to create lessons to meet the student's educational needs. I approach teaching with a positive attitude and a good sense of humor. I begin lessons by asking students if there is anything they would like to specifically focus on or want to share about lessons or any educational struggles they may have. I think this is important to get get past the roadblock so we can focus on moving forward with other work. I think what sets me apart as a tutor is that I have many years of experience not just in the classroom but in the workforce industry which allows me to share my career experiences and customer service skills. I am patient, listen well and sensitive to cultural and intercultural differences.
