About Ani

I am a First-Class English Literature graduate from the University of Leeds, TEFL-certified (and award-winning writer) with extensive experience supporting students across academic, creative, and confidence-based learning.

Alongside English tutoring, I have worked in many educational settings including schools, colleges, and universities in the UK, Europe, and Asia. This means I have supported hundreds of learners to achieve their goals, no matter what barriers they may be facing. Confidence and enjoyment are the keys to positive learning, and this is why I take such a hands-on approach to my teaching. My priority is that you feel good whilst learning, and that your goals become realities!

I speak English (native speaker) and Spanish, so I understand first-hand the challenges involved in learning a second language! This gives me great insight into the barriers you may be facing and I can help you overcome these challenges.

I am friendly, approachable, encouraging and passionate about supporting my students. Whatever your goals and desired outcomes, we will work together in a way that suits you, and we will achieve great things!

About the lesson

The foundation of my teaching is in helping you to clearly define your goals. From there, we will work towards your desired outcome at a pace that suits your learning style whilst increasing confidence, linguistic dexterity, and the ability to eloquently express your ideas to a high level.

ACADEMIC STUDENTS: we are going to develop your ability to think clearly on the page. You will develop the skills to articulate your ideas in a compelling way, harnessing form, structure, language, argument, and analysis to sharpen your unique academic voice to elevate your writing. I work with GCSE, A-level, and university-level students including dissertation and coursework support.

ESL STUDENTS: we will increase your confidence in all areas of English, focusing on the areas where you need the most support. We will draw upon your interests and passions to anchor your language-learning in a way that genuinely motivates you, which means our lessons will be fun and enjoyable! Practical exercises will improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. We will focus on real-life usage and language acquisition rather than textbook learning.

I plan my lessons to suit your needs and we will work at a pace that is natural to you. I will always encourage you and gently push you, but my main priority is to increase your confidence.

CREATIVE WRITING STUDENTS: depending on what your creative goals are as a writer, we will work across different genres and forms to refine and amplify your unique voice. We will explore the use of narrative perspective and literary devices to deepen your creative writing abilities. These sessions will include writing exercises and at times, set readings tasks in order to help you 'read like a writer'.

- I will always offer to provide homework and/or further reading!
